ARC-FLASH-ANALYTIC V5.0 Has Been Released

ARCAD, INC. announces the release of AFA V5.0 software program for arc flash, shock hazard analysis and labeling.

AFA v5.0 has been extended to include circuit protection device drop down list. The program will populate the list with protection devices meeting the application's system voltage and interrupting rating requirements. AFA v5.0 comes accompanied with built-in library of selected protection devices and capability to extent the library with customer specific devices. The program will automatically determine arc duration based on the predicted arcing current value and the selected protective device type.

Also, the new software version introduces Evaluated Threshold Incident Energy for a Second Degree Burn at the Arc Flash Boundary. The value was preset to industry standard 1.2 cal/cm^2 ( 5 J/cm^2 ) bare skin exposure to second degree burn in previous software editions. AFA v5.0 allows to enter different than the industry accepted value as well as let the program to evaluate Onset Incident Energy to Second Degree Burn to determine Arc Flash Boundary at that Incident Energy.

AFA v5.0  - SOFTPEDIA "100% CLEAN" AWARD

Arc-Flash-Analytics version 5.0 has been tested in the Softpedia labs using several industry-leading security solutions and found to be completely clean of adware/spyware components. In its letter of acceptance, Softpedia Editorial Team said "We are impressed with the quality of your product and encourage you to keep these high standards in the future. To assure our visitors that Arc-Flash-Analytic is clean, we have granted it with the "100% CLEAN" Softpedia award."

The program has also been added to Softpedia's database of software programs for the Windows operating system.

Evaluation of Onset to Second Degree Burn Energy in Arc Flash

[...] using onset to second degree burn energy for bare skin exposure fixed to 1.2 cal/cm^2 in calculating the arc flash boundary for arc durations other than one (1) second is, as far as we are concerned, open to dispute and, in our strong opinion, heat flux rate should be factored-in when estimating skin damage imposed by an arc flash. Using the 1.2 cal/cm^2 energy for exposure times less than one second will result in undervalued arc flash boundaries while resulting in conservative but save arc flash boundaries for exposure times more than one (1) seconds. [...]
